How you can help the For Cats' Sake Rescue

For Cats' Sake is an all-volunteer organization and has no paid employees. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.  All monetary and other donations to For Cats' Sake are tax-deductible.  All income from donations and adoptions is applied 100% toward animal care

To date, we have rescued and adopted many homeless and abandoned cats.  These cats have been placed into permanent loving homes.  Because individual donations are our most important source of income, we desperately need your help.  Here are several ways you can help us to help the cats.

Shadow's Cryosurgery

Shadow

Shadow has a condition called eyelid agenesis, whereby a portion of each upper eyelid did not form properly at birth. This causes facial hairs to be misdirected toward the eyes and associated discomfort. Freezing surgery (cryosurgery) will be performed to remove the irritating hairs from each eye. Once Shadow has recovered from her procedure she will be perfectly healthy to go into her new home!

Here is a little from Shadow:

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my story. First let me introduce myself. My name is Shadow and I am not your typical black cat. My face and paws are black as a starless night but the rest of my coat is flecked with salt and pepper colors like teeny, tiny little stars. I am unique and elegant to say the least. My wonderful foster mom named me Shadow because I like to sneak up out of the shadows and rub on her legs just to tell her Hi and I love you for saving me!

My story starts out not so pleasant and I don't like talking about the sad parts but I will try to share a bit about it with you so you understand me a little. I was abandoned by my family and taken into Milwaukee Animal Control. This has given me some trust issues with people. I really like being petted and scratched but I'm nervous about being picked up. I'm not sure why but maybe I think someone is going to toss me out of my home again and that will just break my heart.

My previous family didn't want me anymore and I think it is because of my eyes. You see, I have this condition called Eyelid Agenesis. It hurts a lot and it looks like I'm sick because I have watery, goopy eyes all the time. The doctor told the nice ladies from For Cat's Sake, that my eyelid is folded inward and it rubs on my eye. He also said it can lead to scarring and loss of vision if not fixed. I'm so sad about this and that is why I am writing this little story to you.

My friends at For Cat's Sake are looking for help. They are a small rescue and the funds are very limited and the doctor said my surgery is going to cost $1200! I was shocked and scared because I didn't think anyone would want to help me and I would eventually go blind. I really don't want that to go blind. I have been through so much this far and that would be even worse.

The rescue is asking for your help and so am I. Please, please help with a donation to help pay for my surgery. I would be forever grateful and you would be my hero and again I thank you in advance for any help you could provide.

Purrs and Kisses,

Shadow
